The subject of tropical fish became almost an obsession for Elizabeth during 1996 and 1997, She explored the form, colour, movement and spatial relationships in a series of paintings called "Tropicals". In this series she produced a number of works on canvas that ranged in size form 24" x 36" to 4" x 6". She decided to do these canvases in a very different way by first cutting out the fish shapes from raw canvas, painting these and then applying them permanently to the canvas.

The results are en explosion of tropical colours and shapes that are both captivating, alluring and yet tranquil. The fish seem to swim right off the canvas in dynamic 3D effect. If you 've ever had the opportunity to snorkel or scuba dive in the tropics, these paintings will bring back that experience. The Tropical Collection had never been shown in a gallery. The series had been made available exclusively to Skylight Studio and You. These are one of a kind originals, painted on canvas and finished off with two coats of high quality varnish to enhance ad preserve the bright colours. The overall effect is stunning.
